This piece was started on Friday, finished tonight while it was still Saturday. Interesting how different it looks at various angles. (I actually like it better from these perspectives.)
Humble beginnings
The journal page had been painted long ago. I slap-dashed some papers on top, then did my pencil sketch looking in the mirror.
My, what a long face you have, Grandma!
Today's (yesterday's?) won't be ready 'til tomorrow, or the next day, because tomorrow Willow's dance class will finally be able to perform the Nutcracker (postponed due to the snow). I hope she remembers her part after being away so long!

this is just stunning...i am left speechless by how beautifully you paint...with so much richness and depth...i am so intimidated to try painting a face...and you inspire me so much that maybe at some point i will actually try...
i love the caran d'ache too i just go some of the neocolor IIs...the neocolor I crayons are also a lot of fun (they aren't water soluble)

How could I say more...wonderful wonderful Lulu...how will your page stay closed with those beads?
I like the finished page I also like it when the words and paper underneath stayed showing.
Sometimes I scan a picture. Leave the one I scan and then work over the printed one from the scan. Then you can have two. Glue the new one into the page....
Happy Christmas today!!!
I will be in Portland Monday...you have my cell...call me if you have time to visit and I can see your journal after work. I know you have the girls.
GORGEOUS - AS ALWAYS...
oh my goodness. This is such a beautiful portrait. I really appreciate you posting images of the process too... I love to see how a piece evolves. Thanks for stopping by.

lk, beautiful portrait, i love that you showed the stages.
i hope you are getting more rest... i am the same way...up way to late, journaling, blogging, emailing... then up early for another day...if only we could find a way to freeze time to catch up and then unfreeze it again. :-)
Happy Christmas with your girls! :-)
